KARATE GRADING

“Grading” refers to the process of evaluating and advancing a practitioner’s skill level, typically marked by the awarding of belts of different colours. Grading assessments are based on a set curriculum that tests various aspects of karate proficiency, including techniques, kata, kumite and overall knowledge of karate.

The Grading is conducted by Sensei Seah. The authorised Branch Instructor of Japan Karate-do Inoue-Ha Shito-Ryu Keishin-Kai. He is authorised to conduct accreditation test of up to Sandan.

Trainees generally follows a progression from beginner to advanced levels, typically represented by a series of coloured belts:

Heian Nidan   (平安二段), for Yellow Belt.
Heian Shodan (平安初段), for Green Belt.
Heian Sandan (平安三段), for Blue Belt.
Heian Yondan (平安四段), for Orange Belt.
Heian Godan  (平安五段), for Brown Belt with 3 stripes.
Seienchin (セイエンチン), for Brown Belt.
Bassaidai (バッサイダイ), for Brown Belt.
